Presentation to the Victoria
As is usual at this time of year, we’ve been busy presenting the winners of the West London CAMRA Pub of the Year award with their certificates. The award is presented following a vote by branch members, and normally we present a third, second and first place award. The results were counted and this time we had a draw for second place!
The Victoria in Strathearn Place, W2 (a short walk from Paddington station) was one of the joint second place winners. It’s a great historic pub with a warm welcome, good food and well-kept beers including a wide range of Fuller’s beers and a guest beer. The ornate interior (featuring in CAMRA’s National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors) is a wonderful survivor from the mid-Victorian period – refurbishments of other pubs from the late-Victorian period onwards mean that such pub interiors are very rare indeed.
Pictured is our branch chairman Les Maggs presenting the award. We’ve also presented the other joint second place award to the Temple Brew House, and I’ll be writing about that here soon. The final presentation to the overall winner, the Cask Pub and Kitchen, Charlwood Street, Pimlico will be on Sunday 9th June from 5pm.
